Govt. Limited Additional Spending Amid Higher Oil Prices
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the govt. will limit additional spending for ministries/agencies and regional transfers as higher global oil prices reduce fiscal flexibility, although the 2026 State Budget (APBN) remains secure. The govt. noted that the 2H26 economic stimulus package was prepared using an oil price assumption of USD 100/bbl, minimizing the impact on existing programs. The Ministry of Finance previously allocated an additional IDR 132 tn for energy subsidies and compensation, while revising the 2026 fiscal deficit projection to IDR 734.3 tn (2.85% of GDP) from IDR 689.1 tn (2.68% of GDP), remaining below the statutory 3% of GDP ceiling.
